About
Pac-Man, originally titled Puck Man in Japan, is a 1980 maze video game developed and published by Namco for arcades. It was released in Japan on May 22, 1980, and in North America in August 1980 by Midway Manufacturing. Players control Pac-Man as he navigates a maze, eating all the dots while avoiding four colored ghosts. Eating large flashing Power Pellets temporarily turns the ghosts blue and vulnerable, allowing Pac-Man to eat them for bonus points. Pac-Man is widely regarded as one of the most influential and greatest video games of all time. It achieved massive critical and commercial success, spawning multiple sequels, extensive merchandise, and two animated television series. The character became the official mascot of Namco and later Bandai Namco Entertainment. To this day, it remains one of the highest-grossing and best-selling video games ever, with a lasting cultural and commercial legacy.
